Chef Michael Voltaggio has pulled the plug on his La Cienega restaurant Ink . Well after just eight months, closing (at least for now) the place without so much as a social media notification.
Today, while based out of L.A., Michael is still very involved in the culinary world, as he’s part of four restaurants. In addition to Sack Sandwiches in LA, he’s partnered with his brother in Estuary in Washington, D.C.; Voltaggio Brothers Steakhouse in Oxon Hill, Md.; and STRFSH in Santa Monica, Calif.
“It was our decision to close due to the fact that we exhausted every resource that we had available to us to continue to not only fund losses, but also to try to essentially turn the business around, to make the restaurant profitable.”
He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their three children Thacher, Piper and Ever Maeve in his hometown of Frederick, MD.

Michael Voltaggio (born September 29, 1978) is an American chef residing in Los Angeles, California. Voltaggio was the winner of the sixth season of Top Chef, Bravo’s cooking competition reality show, where he competed with his brother, Bryan Voltaggio .
But the three flagship restaurants — Marcus Samuelsson’s Marcus, the eponymous Voltaggio Brothers Steak House and Fish by José Andrés — are tipped toward the decadent.
Two-time runner up Bryan Voltaggio is the only chef who has competed on Top Chef ( Season Six : Las Vegas) and Top Chef Masters (Season 5). He is back for Season 17 All Stars LA to prove that he has what it takes to bring home the title.
Cooking since the age of fourteen, Chef Michael Midgley brought his culinary talents to Lincoln Center after opening Midgley’s Public House in November of 2014. Now his celebrity chef status is taking a back burner to his passion of operating his own restaurant – and his passion to serve great food!
We eat, like, three meals a day obviously from the house now,” Voltaggio , 41, told Us Weekly exclusively last month. He’s currently quarantining with his girlfriend , fashion designer Sami Miro. “The dynamic has definitely been a lot different. Sami’s definitely learning how to do dishes pretty well,” he added.
